Hi everyone! I hope your summer has been filled with s’mores and amazing memories. As for me, my highlight of the summer was starting a new job in the fashion industry. I began with Kohl’s as a Sample Specialist, where I manage the samples the company uses for the photoshoots. This includes the samples for all model and product photoshoots, as well as the images for all social media platforms. Pretty cool, huh?
Now as much as we don’t like to believe it, summer is coming to an end. Although, with this means FALL FASHION. Which is just as exciting nonetheless. Really, fall is the most exciting time for all things amazing, warm and cozy. So for today’s post, I wanted to jump right in and talk about the top NYFW trends that I think are standouts for this fall season. Check out the list below:
Seen within multiple collections, designers are loving red for this fall season. This trend is an easy way to look on-trend and is a refreshing twist amongst the usual neutrals and deep colors. The leading color of the season, red is making a powerful entrance.
What better way to make a statement than with a faux-fur coat? It’s an easy way to add major oomph to any outfit. Throw it over a basic sweater with jeans and boots and you are set to go. Save this staple number for when it gets chillier outside. (P.S. a faux-fur coat is one of those timeless pieces worth investing in.)
We first saw fishnets surface last year, and it is back again for another season. When it comes to trends, you don’t always fall in love with all of them. For me, the fishnet fad wasn’t something I immediately jumped on. Although, it’s really starting to grow on me now. For a subtle look, try a pair of fishnet tights with a midi skirt or fishnet socks with pumps. Even white fishnet looks utterly chic.
4. Nylon Coats
A nylon coat is the perfect coat to transition from summer to fall. It is lightweight, while remaining warm, and looks effortlessly stylish. A great outerwear go-to, this style of coat is extremely wearable and can be worn with any outfit.
5. Vintage Floral
Florals are everywhere in the spring and summer, and now they’re even lingering into the colder months. Imagine the floral pattern that would be on a vintage couch back in the ’70s…this is what is trending for this fall. In dresses, skirts, and more, this pattern is a staple to pair with basic fall essentials.
6. Midi Skirts
The mid-length, aka “midi”, skirt is the one skirt everyone will be wearing this fall. Due to the weather getting colder, this skirt is conservative and appropriate while being equally as flattering. Ensure the hem of the skirt hits right at the calf for the best look.
7. Chocolate Brown
Out with black, in with the brown hues. Chocolate brown is another dominant color that was prominent all over the NYFW lineups, and therefore in all it-girls’ wardrobes for this fall. If you aren’t feeling the power red, choose this subtle, warm shade to rock. Scroll through Max Mara’s collection (linked above) for some major style inspiration. This collection is no less than amazing for the perfect ready-to-wear.
8. Retro Hats
I’m sure you have seen the fiddler hat making a comeback this summer with it splashed all over fashionistas’ and celebs’ Instagram accounts. But, the fisherman-esque hat isn’t the only one that’s here to stay throughout the fall season. Vintage hats, such as the cloche hat or brimmed cap, are also among the top retro hats in style. This is definitely one of the best accessories for this season, so I highly suggest you put this on your must-list.
We all know velvet made it’s grand entrance last fall. Although, don’t be surprised to see it (everywhere) again. In my opinion, it’s a little surprising to see it making such a major comeback for yet another season. But designers obviously still have the craze for it. To mix it up for this season, try velvet in a color other than black!
Let me know what trends have caught your eye for fall 2017. Yay for fall fashion!
